A garage library need not be large to be useful. A handful of manuals, design books and carefully chosen magazines can create a reference corner that reflects your interests. The important step is deciding what belongs there and making it easy to find again.
Separate working documents from reading material. Keep the correct vehicle handbook and current records together, then group books by a simple theme such as design, journeys or history. Use a dry indoor shelf for anything that could be damaged by workshop moisture or dust.

Add a small index if the collection contains useful magazine articles. A note with the publication, issue and topic is usually enough. This avoids the frustrating habit of remembering an article clearly while forgetting where it appeared. Preserve the original context when copying a short reference for personal use.
Leave some room on the shelf. A collection becomes more distinctive when each addition has a reason to be there. Revisiting a good book, with fresh notes in a separate notebook, can be more rewarding than continuously adding titles you never open.
